J.B. Renninger, Councilman

Jim Renninger has made his residence in the Town of Orange Park for more than 26 years. He is currently employed at Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) as the Dean of Workforce Development at Downtown Campus, but expecting to retire in the summer of 2011.

He is a veteran of the United States Navy. As a USN pilot he achieved the rank of Captain and commanded three aviation squadrons and commands at Naval Air Station Cecil Field during the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s. During his 26 year military career he has maintained his residence and family in Orange Park while he was assigned for two tours to Norfolk, VA and one to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Upon retirement from military service in 1998, he was self-employed in personal finance planning in Orange Park, leaving that position for his current position with FSCJ in 2002.

Jim is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University (BS-Education/Math), Webster University (MA-Business Administration), National Defense University (National Strategic Studies), and is currently a student at Northcentral University where he is working on his doctorate degree (PhD.-Higher Education).

He has served on the Clay County Salvation Army Executive Board, Westside Business Leaders Association (President), Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Task Force (MATF), Clay County Republican Men’s Club (Treasurer/Secretary/Program), Clay County Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC), Clay County Tourist Development Council, Advent Lutheran Church (President-Church Council) and various social and professional organizations. He is an active pilot with an Airline Transport Pilot rating and currently is part owner of a light general aviation aircraft.

He has been married to Phyllis for over 41 years and has four children and five grandchildren. All four children graduated from Orange Park High School and have attended University of Florida, Florida State University, or Florida A&M.
