Service Standards
The following are service standards for residential/commercial garbage, yard trash and recycling collection services established to meet the needs of residents of the Town or Orange Park.
| Garbage: | The material food for humans or animals. Example - solid wastes form the preparation, cooking and disposing of food products. |
| Trash: | Any material that is part of a yard plant or shrub. Example - tree limbs, leaves, grass clippings. |
| Rubbage: | Any material that is concrete rubble, bricks, lumber for waste building materials, etc. Any material that is not water soluble. |
| Recyclable: | Newspaper, mixed paper, cardboard (flattened), glass food or beverage containers (brown, clear, green) aluminum, steel or tin food or beverage containers (labels ok). Scrap metal (under 40lbs), automotive waste oil and batteries delivered to Recycling Center ONLY. |
Residential garbage must be placed for collection in standard 20-30 gallon cans weighing no more than 40 lbs each. No more than 3 cans per pick up.
All residents waste must be placed within 3-5 feet of curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your schedule pick up day. The Town discourages use of red or yellow plastic trash bags for household waste.
Garbage cans must have handles, tight fitting lids, be free of sharp jagged edges and have bottoms in-disposable containers. Containerized trash shall be placed separately from tree limbs for collection. When garbage cans develop holes in bottoms or jagged edges you are required to replace them.
Yard trash capable of being containerized shall be placed in a standard garbage can, bags, or disposable container. Containerized trash shall be placed separately from tree limbs for collection. Trash shall not be stacked over water or gas meters, under low hanging trees or utility wires or near or around phone boxes.
Place tree limbs and containerized trash separately and in an orderly manner for collection. Stack tree limbs parallel to each other. Limbs shall not exceed 8" in diameter and 4' in length.
Dumpsters for commercial use shall be enclosed and visually screened in an effective manner (OP 2.05.17.000).
One red recycle bin is available per household. Additional recyclables may be placed in trash bags and set beside the red bin for curbside pick up.
Bulky items such as, but not limited to, fencing, sofas, chairs, dishwashers, washing machines, hot water heaters etc., required special handling. Call Public Works for a special pick up. (State law requires that refrigerator and freezer locks and doors be removed.) A fee of $35.00 per item will be charged.
Call Public Works for pick up of construction, building or waste material. A special pick up charge will be assessed. The amount to be determined at time of pick up.
The Town will not pick up certain special/hazardous waste items, such as: automotive parts, tires, chemical, pesticides, or paint. These items require special handling and must be taken to the Clay County Landfill for proper disposal.
